Summer’s here, and for our family, that means Seorak Beach in Yangyang!

 

This year marks our 4th consecutive visit (2022 ~ 2025), and I wanted to share why we keep coming back — plus some useful tips for your next trip! 🌊☀️

📍 Seorak Beach Information

 

 

• Location: Jeonjin 2-ri, Ganghyeon-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province
• Beach Length: ~1 km
• Width: ~80 m
• Highlights: Shallow waters & gentle waves → Perfect for kids
• Open Season: July 10 – August 20 (every year)
• Nearby Attractions:
  Seoraksan National Park, Naksansa Temple, Osaek Mineral Spring, and more

🏖 Why We Love Seorak Beach

 

 

• Shallow waters, safe for kids 🧒
• Haven’t seen a single jellyfish in 4 years ✅
• Lots of small fish — perfect for curious little ones
• Fun to dig and find tiny seashells 🐚

 

For us, it’s hands down one of the best family-friendly beaches in Yangyang.

⛱ Parasol & Tent Setup Tips

 

 

Since we stay 3–4 days each visit, renting parasols gets pricey — so we bring our own gear:

 

 

• 2022: No Brand pop-up tent (E-Mart)
• 2023–2024: Parasol
• 2025: One-touch shade tent (my personal favorite ✅)

 

 

Important Tip:
Tents, shades, and tarps are allowed, but only in designated areas near the breakwater free zone.
Space is limited, but being right in front of the ocean is totally worth it! 🌊

🍴 Meta Beach Yangyang (Food Zone)

 

 

Last summer, Meta Beach Yangyang — a trendy seaside food zone — opened nearby.

 

We didn’t try it since we usually travel with kids, but if you’re visiting without children, it’s a great place to enjoy drinks and snacks by the sea.

 

 

 

Plus, there’s a convenience store near the parking lot, so stock up on supplies before heading to your spot.

🚗 Parking Tips (Must-Read!)

 

 

If you just enter “Seorak Beach” in your GPS, you’ll probably park far from the free tent zone →
which means a long walk under the summer sun. 🌞🥵

 

 

My Parking Hack:

 

• Drive all the way to the far left after entering the parking area.
• Look for the caravan parking section → it’s right next to the free tent zone.
• Even better: Set your destination to Hujin Fish Market (후진활어센터) for closer access to prime spots.
